Fit to Serve

"Fit to Serve" is an IHS-led campaign dedicated to improving the hearing healthcare system for America's veterans. Our goal is to ensure veterans have access to timely and high-quality hearing health care through the use of licensed hearing aid specialists.

In 2016, through the leadership of U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Jon Tester (D-MT), and U.S. Congressmen Sean Duffy (R-WI) and Tim Walz (D-WI), PL 114-256 was signed into law. This act contains the Veterans Hearing Aid Access and Assistant Act, which authorizes the VA's hiring of hearing aid specialists and encourages their use in the contract network.
